4. Summary

Observable facts must be differentiated from opinions

  • Opinions should not be treated as facts
  • The facts of the fossil record do not support evolution
  • Natural selection in a particular species is not evidence of evolution between species
  • Science can only work with the facts of the universe as they are now
  • No comment can be made on the origin of life or the universe as there are no facts to work with
  • An equally valid explanation of the facts is that life was created
  • Evolution is sometimes upheld because creation appears an unacceptable alternative
  • Many open-minded top scientists have their doubts about evolution
  • The living world abounds with evidence to show that it is reasonable to believe in a creator. Examples are:
    • The many “irreducibly complex” systems in the cell, which is the basis of all life, point to a designer
    • Honey bees have remarkable systems to find and gather pollen. They are sterile and cannot pass beneficial mutations to their offspring
    • Animals show remarkable relationships that are most unlikely to have developed gradually
